FR. JUSTIN APPOINTED AS PAROCHIAL VICAR:

In compliance with the decisions of the AGC regarding the status and situation of our parish Nostra Signora del 18cSSmo. Sacramento e Santi Martiri Canadesi, Rome, Italy, Fr. Wilfredo Justin Montanez, SSS, is appointed as 18bParochial Vicar effective November 1, 2015. Moreover, Fr. Justin will continue to be responsible for communication of the Congregation, as he has been doing since October 12, 2012.

The name of our parish recalls the more than 300 Jesuits who came to Canada from 1611 to 1760 to take up missionary work.  Of this number, 36 were killed and 8 of them were later beatified and canonized in 1930.

MIRACLE WITNESSED AT THE PROCESSION OF OUR LADY OF THE PILLAR:

In spite of the threat of typhoon Lando which was felt practically from morning until afternoon of October 18, at least18d in Manila, the Parish of Sta. Cruz was able to celebrate her fiesta in honor of her patron, Our Lady of the Pillar. The celebration culminated in a grand procession defying initial apprehensions it might not push through due to bad weather. However, the Lord made a miracle! This was probably in answer to the collective prayers of the people for a good evening so that they would be able to proceed with the procession. Such miracle happened as people witnessed the absence of rain during the entire period of the procession. Certainly, the uncertain situation which was lifted up to God that resulted in a miracle deepened the faith of the faithful.

VERGEL ON FORMATORS’ MEETING IN SRI LANKA:

(The following is just a small part of the email of Fr. Vergel Dalangin to the Provincial)

18eI wish to thank you for the opportunity that you gave me, in inviting me to participate in the Formators’ Meeting in Sri Lanka.  It was very fruitful, and it has opened me to many exciting things about formation and allowed me also to have a peek on how the Congregation prepares her future religious.  Added to that are the new friends and acquaintances that we made throughout the session.  The Sri Lankan Province has showered us with its own brand of hospitality, where we were literally served hand and foot.

The meeting has made me appreciate my own formation in the Philippines, knowing that our local formators did their best to follow to the smallest letter the program of the Congregation.  Kahit hindi po ako formator, I was able to participate fully in all the activities, as I tried to absorb these new learnings as much as I can.  It has also motivated me to be in the field of initial formation of our seminarians.  It humbles me also, as I also discovered the areas I have to improve on myself, should I become a formator in the future.
