Provincial Update No. 03 January 17, 2019

Sacramentinos at Saint Jude Thaddeus of the Diocese of Cubao

The Bishop of Cubao, Most Rev. Honesto F. Ongtioco, D.D. had earnestly requested POLA to help the ministerial functions of Saint Jude Quasi Parish.  The whole process of accepting the request came about following a recent study and consultations with the Vicars Forane and members of the curia of the diocese of Cubao. The deliberations over the matter, and the meeting on December 13, 2018, between Bishop Ontioco and Fr. Roel dela Cruz, SSS, the Provincial,  together with two Council members of POLA (Frs. Reynaldo Capili, SSS and Alde Bureros, SSS) paved the way of offering our assistance to the said Quasi-Parish. On December 16, 2019, Fr. Joseph Matitu, SSS, was sent to Saint Jude Quasi Parish to share and spread the charism-spirituality-mission of the Sacramentinos while pursuing the Cubao Diocese’s pastoral plan.

The Quasi Parish of Saint Jude is located on Zamboanga Street, Barangay Nayong Kanluran, West Avenue, Quezon City; it belongs to the vicariate of Santa Rita de Cascia, diocese of Cubao.  It had its beginnings in the 1960s as a makeshift shed and when the lot on which stood the makeshift shed was sold in the 1970s, the place of worship was transferred to the end of Zamboanga Street.  It was here that a small concrete chapel was constructed, and it served as a venue not only for spiritual services but also for medical and other related services.  In January 2001, the old chapel was demolished and construction of a new one began.  In October 2001, the new church of Saint Jude Sub-Parish was blessed by Bishop Socrates Villegas.

60th Memorabilia

60th Foundation Anniversary Souvenir Book to gaze at the clouds without appreciating the silver linings is just like seeing them without looking forward to something beautiful which will come out after the storm. Indeed, as the province had celebrated successfully the 60th Foundation Anniversary, significant events and activities were truly appreciated with joy and gratitude. This momentous milestone had brought treasured memories and fostered collaboration. What something beautiful to look forward are the silver linings of being one in giving of ourselves and of being one in celebrating with gratefulness and gratitude at the very heart of the Eucharist. Indeed, every moment is captured and narrated as a beautiful storyline. Thus, the SSS-POLA would like to present the 60th Foundation Anniversary Souvenir Book. This is indeed a living testimony of Sacramentinos, Eymardian Family, and Eucharistic Lay Partners and Collaborators. We could not help but to be grateful for the success of all the activities as celebration of faith, hope, joy, and optimism. The 60th Souvenir Book features the various activities which took place as part of a one-year celebration. The full force support of parishes and communities has truly made the commemoration meaningful and the celebration is felt and well appreciated. One of the highlights is the Eucharistic stories which were written by select lay partners from SSS parishes and communities. Those stories are life-changing experiences and how one’s life is shaped and shared in the heart of the Eucharist. To read through this souvenir book, one must have not missed the silver linings of various events which project positivity, commitment, joy, and gratitude. These attitudes profoundly take us to a higher level in appreciating what has transpired and in embracing the challenges that lurk ahead of us. To be nourished and inspired by Eucharistic spirituality and mission, it is a clarion call to each one that this souvenir book will not only be fleeting through time. It is always our hope that the beautiful memories shared and celebrated will linger in our hearts as we look forward for more fruitful years.
Adveniat Regnum Tuum Eucharisticum!
