NON-GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATIONS (NGOs)

Even just within our small parochial territory, we cannot accomplish the task of social development by ourselves. Thus, we need to have partners in area development like NonGovernment Organizations. ·

  • Fr. Frankie delos Reyes, though assigned as Pastor of Mary, Star of the Sea Parish in Honolulu, Hawaii, is still actively involved with NGO’s. ·
  • From being a simple parish apostolate to assist the parishioners in acquiring land, the Assumption Parish Socio-Economic Development (APSED) grew to being an accredited NGO. Now, it extends to Securing land tenure, Housing for the poor, Updating of informal settlers, and Community organizing. ·
  • APSED has been collaborating with other NGOS, with the most recent being Bangon Consolacion, an NGO funded program that aims to help in the recovery of the survivors of Typhoon Sendong in Cagayan de Oro. From the original program cost of PhP2,957,000.00 (EU 56,865.38), the amount of which was requested from the NGO called Porticus, the total cost has increased to PhP2,993,000.00 (EU 57,557.69). The program aims at achieving the following outcomes:

a. Rehabilitation and recovery of the affected households and the entire community.
b. Capacity to be proactive in disaster preparedness.
c. Awareness building in environmental issues and health.
